At Consulmet, we deliver high-quality, fast-track projects, a commitment underpinned by significant investment in our fabrication capabilities. Located in Klerksdorp, west of Johannesburg, our purpose-built Consulmet Construction facility is a testament to our commitment to quality and efficiency.
Spanning 4.4 hectares, our comprehensive facility brings together structural steel, plate, and piping fabrication for all our plants under one roof. This streamlining allows for seamless coordination and swift project execution. The facility comprises 7,050 square meters of workshops and two 1,000 square meter covered spaces, forming part of a large laydown area that covers over 3.3 hectares.
Our commitment to quality extends to all aspects of fabrication, with laser cutting, folding, welding, blasting, and painting all completed in-house. We adhere to strict quality assurance processes that comply fully with SABS and meet the high standards of our clients, including industry leaders such as Rio Tinto and Anglo American.
Sourcing structural steel and materials from reputable suppliers like Arcelor Mittal and Columbus Stainless allows us to guarantee the quality of our solutions.
Trial Erection
A cornerstone of our Project Delivery Model is the trial erection of all our plants before they are disassembled for painting and packing for shipment. This rigorous process minimises the duration of on-site construction and eliminates the high costs traditionally associated with reworking components on-site that do not fit.
During the trial erection, we trial fit all major equipment, conduct water tests on our Dense Media Separation (DMS) circuits, trial run pumps, and energise all drives. This process allows us to confirm the compatibility of all components, ensuring a smoother and more efficient installation at your project site.
Depending on the logistics strategy of a particular project, we may ship fully assembled modules to expedite installation further and accelerate the commencement of operations.
Construction
At Consulmet, we believe in the power of continuity. To minimise site construction duration and costs, we deploy the same team that carries out the trial erection of the plant to oversee the on-site installation. Our approach ensures a thorough understanding of the project specifics, which drives efficiency and quality on-site.
We provide a complete site construction and installation service, offering a full spectrum of essential services. These include:
Construction & Site Safety Management: Our dedicated team ensures that all construction activities adhere to the highest safety standards, providing a safe working environment for all personnel.
Site Establishment, Survey, & Set Out: We take care of all preliminary site preparation activities, ensuring the site is ready for construction and installation.
Bulk & Detailed Earthworks: Our expertise extends to designing and constructing both bulk and detailed earthworks.
Civil Works: We perform a range of civil works, including ground slabs and rafts, shallow footings, and bored pier and piled foundations, tailoring our services to meet a project's specific requirements.
Structural, Mechanical, & Piping (SMP): We provide a complete site installation and plant commissioning service.
Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I): Our expert team of qualified electrical engineers handles the installation and commissioning of all electrical equipment and instrumentation, ensuring all components function optimally and to the required regulations.
Tailings Dam Construction: We construct tailings dams to the highest standards, ensuring safe and practical storage for mine waste.
Construction Accommodation & Messing: We can design, supply and construct temporary and permanent accommodation camps for construction personnel.
