Client: Lucapa Diamonds

Location: Lesotho

Design and construction of a complete 1.1 Mtpa kimberlite process plant.  The project was constructed at an altitude of 3,100 m in the Maluti Mountain range during the coldest winter in living memory in heavy snowfalls and 70 km/h winds with a wind chill factor down to minus 22°C.  The process plant included middlings and coarse XRT modules, a 65 tph DMS module, and a hybrid crushing circuit.

The plant was featured in the July 2019 issue of Mining Review (Read the full article here), and in 2020 Lucapa Diamonds won the Excellence in Diamonds award (Lucapa Diamonds - Winner Excellence in Diamonds).

In 2021, Consulmet was engaged by Lucapa Diamonds to upgrade the plant to 250 tph ROM feed.
